Last week I was watching Wayne’s World (again!!!) and when the scene came on when they are in the car rocking out to Bohemian Rhapsody I thought of O’Messy Life. Why? Their new single sounds nothing like it. I know, but the mood, the length and the way it sounds like 3 or 4 different songs fighting to be heard reminds me of Queen’s classic track. At 6 minutes and 39 seconds long it has a lot of time to fill up but with so many different things going on it fills the time easily. Making me press repeat as soon as it is finished so I can listen to it again. The vocals remind me of the Killers, the lyrics a mix of The Men They couldn’t Hang and The Pogues. All topped off with the Broken Family Band. O’Messy Life are a hotchpotch of ideas all demanding to be heard and I’m sure with songs like this, and the “B” side “Space Holiday”, they will be heard by a bigger audience very soon.
