It’s Folk Jim, but not as you know it!

The Imagined Village is an ambitious, collaborative musical project attempting to reinterpret English folk music for a modern multicultural society. Founded in 2004 by Simon Emmerson, The Imagined Village features a moveable feast of musicians from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds including Benjamin Zephaniah, Billy Bragg, Chris Wood, Eliza Carthy, Johnny Kalsi, Martin Carthy, Paul Weller, Sheila Chandra, The Copper Family, Trans Global Underground and Tunng.

The project led to an album release in 2007, The Imagined Village, followed by an EP and a follow up album Empire and Love in 2009.

The Imagined Village live band have toured since 2007  with various line-ups and is currently out and about the place including a couple of dates up North.
