The Ska Beats And Woodenbox With A Fistful Of Fivers At The Georgian Theatre, Stockton This Week-end.

It’s a busy weekend at The Georgian Theatre, Stockton, with 2 top quality gigs from The Ska Beats and Scottish troupes Woodenbox with a Fistful of Fivers and Washington Irving.

Pork pie hats at the ready for Friday 27 January as 7-piece two-tone fanatics The Ska Beats blast out all the very biggest ska hits. From Madness, The Specials and The Beat to Paolo Nutini, The Jam and The Ordinary Boys; all in all it’s a none stop party!

With an energetic front man and a mad for it brass section, it’s safe to say you’ll be dancing from the first beat to the last. Also playing on the bill is another 7-piece act, The Roundels. Playing the best in Northern Soul and general feel good 60s soaked hits.

Tickets are £5 in advance or £7 on the door and can be purchased from: or call 01642 674115.

On Saturday 28 January Middlesbrough promoters The Kids Are Solid Gold head to the Georgian Theatre with a double headliner consisting of two of Scotland’s most buzz-worthy acts.

Woodenbox with a Fistful of Fivers are renowned for their raucous live shows; with a 6 piece line up consisting of a ukulele playing drummer, a 2 piece brass section and some organ thrown in for good measure, it’s easy to understand why.

Washington Irving is a feel good indie/folk ensemble taking influences from Belle and Sebastian and Bright Eyes. Their live shows are full of such raw energy they never fail to win new fans, which was proved in spades after their headline slot on the Sun Inn stage at Stockton Calling this year.

Described as ‘experimental folk’ the band take influences from Captain Beefheart and The Phantom Band, a definite ‘not to be missed’ live experience. Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the door and can be purchased from: or call 01642 674115.

• Woodenbox With a Fistful of Fivers + Washington Irving, Sat 28 Jan, 8pm. Tickets £8 ADV / £10 OTD.
